Erika Billieter has pointed out how very different the photographer's attitude is from that of the artist who document their own Happenings: "The photographer sets out to record his subjcetive view of the world in the photograph. The artist does not solicit the object, but choosesit for what it represents and as a vehicle for conveying an idea or a thought process. For him, photography is only a means of achieving his purpose.
