From about 1948 to 1950, Bullock photographed through Weston’s eyes. He had seen the potency of establishing direct, sensuous relationship with things and believed in it for himself. Yet, not only did he function as Weston functioned, he saw as Weston saw as well. This was not a deliberate attempt to imitate but rather part of a natural, primarily unconscious process of learning through emulation.
