I believe that the photographer has just as much scope as the painter for the expression of his feelings… The only point, raison d’être, of art that I can see, is the attempt to express some supposed reality, to illuminate ordinary objects with that vivid flash of light which suddenly makes everything seem clear an inevitably right.
