I don´t distinguish between documentary and, for example, art photography. In my view, they are the two areas in photography where the best work is made. I believe they have been merging in recent years, which is a positive development. A personal style can convey the artistic the aspect in someone´s work, even if it´s not called art. The advantage photography has over any other art form is its ability to free a moment in time, allowing the viewer to see things which would otherwise remain hidden. Documentary photography presents history, culture and the world around us in a deeper way than any other medium. That can be very revealing, and I believe it is the characteristic that will ensure the future of photojournalism.
