I don't think that the abundance of other media diminishes photography at all. In fact, in an age of visual noise, I think photographs have a distinct place as a contemplative interpretation of reality. If you can create a carefully executed image so that your understanding of the subject comes together with the ephemeral qualities of the moment, it can create something that has more resonance, and can be more enduring, than all those thousands of fleeting impressions!
