It is true that in-depth documentary photography is probably the most powerful communicative genre of the medium, but alas it does not sell magazines, and therefore has to be rationed to about one issue every three months. As a result that most romantic of all photographic heroes – the magazine photo-journalist (“…point me in the direction of the front-line, I want to show man’s inhumanity to man…”) is becoming a dying breed.
