I've always been interested in photography that records and reflects current issues. If you're fascinated by how the world works - as I am - it's much better to have your own personal insight from being there, on the spot, as things are happening!
Taking the picture is almost the easy part. The hard part is getting yourself in a position to take it. That's not just about being physically in the right place, it's about having the right contacts. Logistics are absolutely key. You have to be resourceful and you have to know how to interact with people!
I can't imagine that any human could see some of the things I do and not come away slightly traumatized by the experience. But we all know that this stuff exists. It doesn't go away because you don't see it. I would like to at least see enough to form my own opinion, both personally and photographically!
