I try to find subjects that are visually compelling and possibly tweak people's sense of wonder. I want to make people stop and ask questions about that subject or place - to think about what they are looking at, where it is, how it got there and why it is being shown!
The one operating principle in all my work is scale. Human beings taking things from nature to provide for themselves is not new, but the scale of it is new. So if I wanted to photograph a quarry, I'd look for the mother of all quarries, to show the gigantic proportions of what we take from the land!
