You can do anything you like, it’s all fiction.
You could start a small fire... with [photo] books I hate, and use that light to look at mine.
Photography has always been a simple medium, compared to painting in oil or chipping at marble.
For me the word ‘photographer’ talks about the means of delivering certain kinds of information, feelings and such. If you’re consistently focused on the means of delivery, it means you’re not getting the message across very clearly.
