Technology is not a panacea. It alone will not move your art forward. Only through developing your own aesthetic - free from the tools that create it - can you find new dimensions for your work.
Some photographers will emulate the masters and never achieve the masterpiece because the imitator's voice is not the master's voice. We must all find our own voice.
